I wound up going to Cairns Battery World, across the road from the Cairns Central shopping centre, after the Tandy there said they couldn't match our ADSL modem's 15Volt/1Amp AC adapter (it seems AC adapters with that high a voltage and amperage are as rare as hen's teeth). I wound up buying a 12V/1A adapter for a little over $20, and it appears to be doing a storming job of powering the ADSL modem.

Odd, but as the modem's ticking along fine with no apparent problems, I'm happy.
