Proof I'm Doing It

UPDATE: If you've just followed The Cairns Post's tweet-link to this page and are wondering just what's going on, my post Why Grow A Mo When You Can Grow A Book? should fill the blanks in.

A couple of people have been asking me whether I they can read what I’ve written for NaNoWriMo so far. There was talk about putting it online, but I’m a little leery of that; any issues of copyright and derivative works aside, this stuff is a first draft – which, as you fellow writers know well, is a very, very rough diamond. I want to get out of the habit of posting first draft stuff for all to see as if it were final work (yes, I still harbour dreams of breaking into the writing game sometime).

However, I’m still vain enough to want to show this off, and besides, if you’re thinking of sponsoring a charity in my name, I figure you ought to get as much of a progress report as the guys who’re taking photos of their mustachas in the making.

So, once I hit my target every evening I’ll export all the text I’ve done so far and make it available for you the next day. Send me an e-mail or a direct message via Facebook or Twitter with your e-mail address and I'll add you to a mailing list to which I’ll send out the latest file every morning.

Be warned: The file is a straight export from the beta version of Scrivener for Windows, so the formatting isn’t the nicest and I don’t want to spend valuable writing time on fiddling with layouts.

So: Who wants to torture themselves with my fiction?
